Can cornhole make it to the Olympics?

Welcome to this blind draw tournament and charity hosted by Cornhole Europa April 27, 2019.

Some of the best American and best German players will be facing off or randomly paired together, maybe a preview for the future of international cornhole competition?

We will be welcoming 2 American Cornhole Leauge (ACL) sponsored pro players, Eric Weathers of Texas and Dylan Wood of Virginia. All in efforts to build the bonds of cornhole friends across the pond! Cornhole Europa is looking forward to more events with the American Cornhole League. Prizes for top finishers in A and B brackets.

The twist is that we will be playing on both German and American boards! While slightly different due to culture and the wonderful metric system, no side will have the advantage. If you are interested in the differences check back on www.cornholeeuropa.com for a future post with all the details.

Eric Weathers

I have always been an athletic and competitive person. I was introduced to competitive cornhole via friends that I played softball with. My brother in law and I picked it up and began playing daily. It started out as just being something to do, but eventually we developed strategy and gained the consistency needed to compete at the highest level. My competitive attitude allows me to always want to get better and the goals are to win a national event against the best players in the world. A secondary motivation is to meet all sorts of different people. The people that we meet in the cornhole community have become like family, and a growing family is always best. I am really looking forward to meeting a different type of cornhole culture in Germany and making as many friends as possible in that area of the world!

Dylan Wood

So, My name is Dylan Wood. I am a Professional Cornhole Player with the American Cornhole League. I am from a rural town called Criders, VA with a population of 380 people. With not much to do we always found backyard games a BLAST! About 9 years ago my dad purchased a plastic cornhole set for the family barbecue. I began to realize I was talented at it, and I fell in love! After playing on and off for many years in 2017 I decided to take my game serious in hopes of becoming a professional. I finally made that happen in 2018! I think the reason I love the game so much is the people! So many amazing people play this great sport and No matter the age, size, or physical abilities. ANYONE can play! I hope to help grow this sport so much that we see it in the next summer Olympics, where the whole world can enjoy!!

We are proud to work with the non-profit NF2 Biosolutions to raise money for clinical trials of lifesaving gene therapies. There will be a 50/50 Raffle benefiting this organization that is making a real difference!

NF2 Biosolutions is killing it and super successful! This organization is led by parents of children with a rare genetic disease that causes them to lose hearing, the ability to walk and even to see.

What is special about this non-profit is that the board has the scientific background and fundraising momentum to really make a difference in executing FDA trials for an actual cure of replacing defective genes with healthy ones using cutting edge gene therapies. Big Pharma has no incentive to push for drug or gene therapies because the population is so small, it’s in the hands of non-profits like these.

See www.nf2biosolutions.org for more.

In addition to the event, food and drinks will be available. Kids and dogs welcome. This event is at a local German school with a playground available outdoors to play on for the kiddos.

Next event: Konken Cornhole Club Costume Contest and Doubles Cornhole Tournament.
